Everyone knows that a good night’s sleep is essential for mental and physical health, but sometimes you just need a little extra help drifting off. This lavender pillow spray helps promote relaxation and deeper sleep using lavender essential oil.
Lavender essential oil is very calming, and has balancing properties for the mind and body. I keep this on my bedside table and spray a few sprays on our pillows as I’m getting ready for bed.

Making your own personal care products is much easier than you probably expect. You can also avoid toxic ingredients found in many commercially-produced items, including artificial fragrances. For example, here’s a list of ingredients found in a “natural” pillow spray from a well-known commercial brand: “Water. Fragrance. Alcohol. Nobilis flower oil. Lavendula oil (lavender oil). Cedrus atalantica bark oil. Aloe leaf extract. Propylene methoxydibentoylmethane. Methoxycinnamate. Alpha-isomethyl. Methylpropional. Linalool.” Is anybody else scratching their head about how to even pronounce those last five ingredients?

Lavender Pillow Spray
Ingredients:
Lavender Essential Oil
Witch Hazel or Vodka
Distilled Water
Small Funnel
Spray Bottle (these are the 2oz. amber glass ones that I use)
Retro Label Maker
Directions:
To make this lavender pillow spray, combine one tablespoon witch hazel (or vodka) and three tablespoons water in the spray bottle using the small funnel. Then add five drops of lavender essential oil, replace the top, and shake it up!

I’ve always used lavender essential oil, but I’ve seen many recipes that contain combinations of ylang ylang, bergamot, vetiver and cedarwood as well. Feel free to experiment to find a blend that you love! Do you have any essential oils that are a part of your bedtime routine already?
So dreamy! Must try! I love smelling lavender before I fall asleep. I think it helps my puppy calm down too 🙂
